#PickoftheWeek | Celebrate Christmas + Navidad with Dance at Queens Theatre
BY QEDC It's In Queens

This show will make you happy and feliz!
Calpulli Mexican Dance Company presents Navidad: A Mexican-American Christmas three times at Queens Theatre this weekend.
Dancers and musicians relate a story about a young New Yorker whose parents are from Mexico. In a dream sequence, she attempts to bring the two countries’ cultures together with Aztec-inspired movement and ballet performed to Christmas carols and Mariachi music melding with Tchaikovsky. Then a tempting character preaches the separation of these customs, and the girl must choose. (Take a sneak peek here.)
Shows are on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 2 pm (Audio Description available) and 7 pm, and Sunday, Dec. 11, at 3 pm.
Ticket prices run from $25 to $35 with the option to purchase a four-pack for $90 with the code “4FOR90.”
Queens Theatre is located inside Flushing Meadows Corona Park at 14 United Nations Ave. S. A free parking lot is nearby. The closest subway station is the Mets-Willets Point stop on the 7 line.
Founded in 2003, Calpulli celebrates and promotes Mexican and Mexican-American culture. (“Calpulli” means “family” and “big house” in the Aztec language Nahuatl.) The Queens-based troupe won a National Endowment for the Arts award in 2015.
