George Clinton knows how to get funky.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award winner has been tearing up the music scene since the 1960s with his Parliament Funkadelic collective ─ and they’re showing no signs of slowing down.
Their next stop is Forest Hills Stadium on Friday, Aug. 20, as part of the It’s Time for Hip Hop in NYC promotion that includes outdoor concerts in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Staten Island.
Clinton and The P-Funk All Stars headline a night of serious urban music with Too $hort, DJ Hurricane, DJ Wiz, EPMD, Queens native Havoc of the Infamous Mobb Deep, and Yo-Yo set to perform between 4 pm and 9:30 pm.
It’s free and the Twitch channel Behind The Rhyme will broadcast the live performances along with streaming backstage content and interviews with Hip-Hop journalist Shaheem Reid.

Produced by city officials, the Universal Hip Hop Museum, and IDEKO, It’s Time for Hip Hop is part of NYC Homecoming Week, which runs from Aug. 14 to Aug. 22.
There are special activities throughout NYC Homecoming Week. Plus, a final blowout concert will take place on the Great Lawn in Manhattan’s Central Park on Aug. 21, starting around 5 pm. Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, and Jennifer Hudson are among the confirmed performers. Other big names include Andrea Bocelli, LL COOL J, Elvis Costello, Earth, Wind & Fire, Wyclef Jean, Journey, Gayle King, Barry Manilow, The New York Philharmonic, Carlos Santana, and Patti Smith.
