#InTheLoop | Rent a Jet Ski in Rockaway and Zoom around NYC Waterways
BY QEDC It's In Queens
Yes, Rockaway Beach has great surfing, swimming, tanning, Cornhole games, people-watching, and even whale-watching. But let’s not forget what’s on the peninsula’s other side — Jamaica Bay — where water sports are alive and kicking.
Located on the docks of Thai Rock, a restaurant with waterfront dining and an entrance at 375 Beach 92nd St., Rockaway Jet Ski rents Yamaha Wave Runners (VX and V1). Enthusiasts can take these crafts for multi-hour cruises to such far away spots as Coney Island (hot dogs!) and NYC Harbor (Statute of Liberty!). They can also zoom around Jamaica Bay, which is home to several dozen bird species and nature spots such as the Brant Point and Dubos Point wildlife sanctuaries.
Prices vary. The business operates from 11 am to 7 pm until mid-September.
There’s bonus fun as Thai Rock, which features an outdoor patio overlooking Jamaica Bay, offers a perfect end to the journey. The menu is mostly Thailand-inspired cuisine with a lot of coconut, curry, and peanut flavors. Signature drinks include the popular Ginger Mojito.
Plus, Thai Rock hosts live music on weekend nights. The concerts were “Covid-cancelled” last summer, but they’re back and rocking.
