#InTheLoop | In-Person Summer Kids Program Kicks Off in Western Queens on July 12
BY QEDC It's In Queens
It’s outside. It’s fun. It’s enriching. And it’s for youngsters, but adults love it, too.
Hunter’s Point Parks Conservancy’s in-person Summer Kids returns to Long Island City’s waterfront from Monday, July 12, to Friday, Aug. 20. (It was virtual in 2020.) The program features one event every weekday from 10 am to 10:45 am for six weeks.
Attendees can expect some past favorites and two new additions. The lineup features Joe the Magic Man, WonderSpark Puppets, Jiggy Tots Irish Dance, Yogi Beans children’s yoga, ArtStrong, Snapology, Bricks 4 Kidz, City Owlets Owlmazing Magic, Andy & Suzanna, and Tots Sing & Play with Teaching Artists Collective.
Summer Kids takes place in three different LIC locations, due to permitting and capacity restrictions from NYS and NYC Parks Departments. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are in Gantry Plaza State Park, while Tuesdays are in Hunter’s Point South Park. Meanwhile, Thursdays unfold at Culture Lab LIC at the Plaxall Gallery at 5-25 46th Ave.
All events are free, thanks to support from HPPC, ProHEALTH Dental, Hunter’s Point South Living, and NYC Ferry, but registration is required due to capacity limits. Click here for more information and registration links or send an email to info@hunterspointparks.org. Matriculation is on a first come, first serve basis.
“The Conservancy is thrilled to bring back Summer Kids, in person, for some of the youngest members of our community,” stated HPPC President Rob Basch. “It has never been more important to get kids outside to see each other and appreciate the beauty of our waterfront parks. We thank all our partners in helping put this program together so let’s have a great summer together.”
