#InTheLoop | Great Waves of Food! Summer Vendors Pop Up in Rockaway
BY QEDC It's In Queens
People go to Rockaway for the sun, ocean breezes, and sandcastles, but they stay for the food.
A phrase like this would have caused sarcastic laughter and ridicule a few years ago, but now it’s a lovely truth, thanks to Riis Park Beach Bazaar.
The official address is 167-02 Rockaway Beach Blvd., but the concession stands spread out for about one mile near the promenade. Here are the 2021 vendors, according to the website.
Bay 2 (just north of the bathhouse)
LIDO Beach Butlers: Food and items on demand.
Rockaway Ice Lady: Individually handcrafted Italian ices.
Two Dudes: Burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, fries, etc.
Bay 6 (near Riis Park Memorial Clock)
Wise Clock Café: Bagels, avocado sandwiches, coffee, etc.
Bay 9 (near beach bus drop-off spot)
Boarders: Surf shop with rentals and lockers.
Cuisine by Claudette: A satellite to an eponymous restaurant on Beach 116th Street. Claudette specializes in Mediterranean- and Middle East-inspired delights.
Odd Fellows Ice Cream: Small-batch ice cream.
Pizza Moto: Bubbly, char-kissed Neopolitan pizza.
Riis Point Bar: Pub grub.
Rockaway Clam Bar: Local entrepreneur Susan Povich, who founded Red Hook Lobster Pound, runs this stand that sells fried clams, Maine style lobster rolls, and other seafood dishes.
Royal Hawaiian Shaved Ice: Bright tropical colors with sweet tropical flavors.

Bay 14 (southern tip of promenade)
Oaxaca Tacos: A marriage of Texas barbecue and Mexican cuisine.
Open at noon on weekdays and 11 am on weekends, Riis Park Beach Bazaar is scheduled to operate through Labor Day weekend.
