#InTheLoop | Doughnut Shop with Cultlike Following to Open in Astoria

BY QEDC It's In Queens

Yo-Yo-Ma. Flavor Flav. Richie Rich. Woody Woodpecker. Oh-La-La!

Queens rises to the top of the duplicated name game in sweet style with Dough Doughnuts, which is set to open in Astoria on Saturday, May 29, at 9 am, with the launch of a new flavor and a free tee shirt for first 500 customers who buy a box of six.

The popular, fast-growing chain — which has branches in the Flatiron District and Prospect Heights as well as kiosks in Grand Central’s Urbanspace Vanderbilt and City Kitchen in Times Square — will serve four-inch yeasts and cakes with several dozen, often-extravagant flavors along with Bonjourno Artisanal coffee in a roughly-700-square-foot former real estate office at 21-70 31st St.

There are plenty of great doughnuts in Queens. This brand conquers palates with a brioche-style dough that creates a unique taste. (Most others are made from flour.) Plus, patrons will be able to watch the glazing process live.

Here’s a primer on the three Dough specialty categories.
