#InTheLoop | Danny Simmons Unveils Art Show at Resorts World on March 18
BY QEDC It's In Queens

Some Queens families overflow with talent.
Daniel “Danny” Simmons Jr. is an abstract-expressionist painter, author, collector, poet, and philanthropist. The Hollis product is also the older brother of Hip-Hop impresario Russell and Joseph, who’s better known as “Rev. Run” from Run-D.M.C.
Danny is also a curator whose new show will be on display at Resorts World New York City’s Red Wall Gallery from March 18 to June 26.
Entitled “Center Stage,” the exhibition highlights the power of female talent in New York City and Philadelphia. Displaying artists include Charlotte Mouquin (below), Marcy Morris, Lusmerlin, Wanda Payne, Ellen Powell Tiberino, Pauline Houston McCall, Shenna Vaughn (above), Kate Fauvell, and Sarah Willis.
On Facebook, Danny described them as “dopetastic.”
The opening reception for Center Stage, which is also presented by Wordsmith, is in the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Big Apple Conference Room on the Resorts World campus on Saturday, March 18, from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Located on two floors, the Red Wall was created in 2012 to showcase work by local artists, photographers, and textile makers in conjunction with community arts organizations.
Danny has a degree in social work from New York University and a master’s in public finance from Long Island University. He launched his painting career soon after realizing that he wasn’t happy with his office job. Since then, he’s exhibited around the world, including the United Nations and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in Harlem, while also co-founding Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, Rush Arts Philadelphia, and HBO’s Def Poetry Jam. (His resume goes on and on.)
Resorts World NYC’s entrance is 110-00 Rockaway Blvd. in South Jamaica. The property includes a large, free parking lot. It also has its own subway station, Aqueduct/North Conduit Avenue on the A line.
