#InTheLoop | MoMA PS1 Unveils Three Exhbitions on Oct. 10

Triptych? Trilogy? Triumvirate?

MoMA PS1 unveils three exhibitions on Oct. 10. All are the displaying artists’ first-ever shows in the United States and all will be on view until February 2025.

Sohrab Hura: Mother showcases more than 50 works from the last two decades of this India-born artist’s experimental practice. Born in 1981, Hura began his career in documentary photography before teaching himself other genres. In this show, he weaves together photography, film, sound, drawing, painting, and text that have never been shown together.

Offerings for Escalante is a collaboration between Enzo Camacho (Filipino, b. 1985) and Ami Lien (American, b. 1987). Through newly produced moving-image works, a light-based installation, and a suite of handmade paper works, the exhibition, entitled “Who Wants to Die for Glamour,” centers on the Philippine Island of Negros, where sugar plantations abound. The exposition explores the interconnected issues of land justice, food sovereignty, and anti-imperialist resistance.

Jasmine Gregory presents a large-scale, site-specific installation that mixes paintings with such items as wine bottles, wire hangers, tinsel, and studio refuse. She weaves scenarios whose ambiguous drama reflects the difficulty of digesting and producing within hyper-saturated cultural landscapes.

Located at 22-25 Jackson Ave. in Long Island City, MoMA PS1 is accessible via the 7, E, G, and M lines to the Court Sq.-23rd St. and 21st St.-Van Alst subway stations. Yes, it’s affiliated with the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan.
