Victor is obsessed with inventing a living, intelligent human being. Instead, the young scientist creates a monster…and a classic, timeless horror story.
City Gate Productions presents a unique version of Frankenstein at The Secret Theatre in Woodside from Friday, Oct. 18, to Sunday, Oct. 27.
Adapted by Vincent S. Hannam, this play follows the ambitious main character’s attempts to solve the mysteries of life and death with a secondary theme of the monster’s desire to find love and his influence on Elizabeth, a strong-willed minor character who’s stuck in the middle of it all.
There’s also a local twist as Woodside resident Micki Watanabe Spiller is the production’s resident artist. She created costumes, stage props, and a pop-up gallery.
General admission is $25, but students and seniors can attend for $20.
Showtimes are Oct. 18, 8 pm; Oct. 19, 8 pm; Oct. 20, 3 pm; Oct. 24, 7:30 pm; Oct. 25, 8 pm; Oct. 26, 8 pm; and Oct. 27, 3 pm.
Located at 38-02 61st St. in Woodside, the Secret has space for about 50 attendees per event. It’s one block from the 7 train’s 61st Street station and five blocks from the R/M train stop at Broadway and 65th Street. Parking is on the street.
