This group is funny, family-friendly, and in Queens for five Saturdays.
Show Up, Kids! debuts at QED Astoria on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 am. Then it repeats every following Saturday through Sept. 28, always at 11 am.
The main troupe doesn’t show up for this musical — allegedly — so the host has to enlist help from the youngsters in the audience (and their grownups). They might choose everything from the plot to the props, characters to costumes, and settings to sound.
Tickets cost $20, and the 45-minute play is aimed for ages 3 to 10.
Show Up, Kids!, which has attracted capacity crowds and rave reviews from Edinburgh to Hollywood, stars Denisse Estefany Mendoza from Aug. 31 to Sept. 14 and Kento Morita from Sept. 21 to Sept. 28. Peter Michael Marino is the writer, while Michole Biancosino is the director. Michael Andrew creates the music.
Located at 27-16 23rd Ave., QED is a woman-owned, multipurpose space that hosts everything from Show Up, Kids! to writing workshops to debate watch parties. The name is an abbreviation of “Quod Erat Demonstrandum,” which is Latin for “That Which Has Demonstrated.”
