Blood is thicker than water, but sometimes it flows like beer and cocktails.
Seventy area pubs and breweries – including five in Queens – are participating in the New York Blood Center’s Pint for a Pint campaign this year.
From now until Tuesday, Sept. 10, NYBC donors of drinking age can receive a voucher for a free beverage at the following Queens establishments.
Geordie’s Joint, 79-19 Jamaica Ave., Woodhaven
Hoi Polloi, 37-09 College Point Blvd., Flushing
Queens Beer Garden, 80-60 Cooper Ave., Glendale
Rivercrest, 33-15 Ditmars Blvd., Astoria
SingleCut Beersmiths, 19-33 37th St., Astoria
For health reasons, individuals cannot redeem their vouchers on the same day of their donation.
NYBC recently issued an urgent call for type O+ and O- donations as the inventory of type O blood is the lowest it’s been since the early days of COVID-19. Plus, August is usually a challenging month for the blood supply due to summer travel, school breaks, and seasonal gatherings.
“The ‘Pint for a Pint’ campaign is a favorite,” stated NYBC Senior Vice President Andrea Cefarelli. “We hope this fun incentive will inspire New Yorkers to make an appointment to give the gift of life this summer, support their favorite local businesses, and beat the summer heat with a refreshing pint of their favorite beverage!”
Editor’s note: For those who don’t want the deal, many other NYC venues are running blood drives right now. Click here for the entire list or call 1-800-933-2566.
