Is it possible to have too many fantastic concerts in a summer?
No, but Queens is certainly pushing the envelope. Last week, we reported on Jackson Heights, Woodside, and multi-neighorhood Queens College events. Now, we’re back with music in Astoria, Bayside, Forest Park, Gantry Plaza State Park, and Long Island City.
Let’s begin with Italian Nights 2024 at Athens Square Park, which lies by 30th Street and 30th Avenue in Astoria. The free shows are on Wednesdays at 7 pm.

July 31: The New York City Police Symphony Band performs as part of National Crime Night Out with support from the 114th Precinct Community Council
Aug. 7: La Dolce Vita with Mario and Emilio crooning Old Time favorites
Aug. 14: Gino Belmone from the Pane & Cioccolato Band plays favorites spanning from the early 1940s to the present
Aug. 21: Illusion 2 Band featuring Al Amico & Friends entertains those who love to dance to Italian music under summer stars
Aug. 28: Antonio Guarna takes the stage for Neapolitan Classics and Italian Pop
Not far away at 09-01 33rd Rd., The Noguchi Museum hosts Bang on a Can in the first floor galleries. These monthly Sunday performances start at 3:30 pm. Tickets run from free to $16 and include full access to the galleries. The remaining schedule follows.

Central Astoria LDC’s Summer Concert series begins with Emerald City Underground playing Rock-n-Roll at the Astoria Park Great Lawn on July 11 at 7:30 pm. The free weekly series continues on consecutive Thursdays at 7:30 pm. Here’s the skinny.

Aug. 1: Strawberry Fields (Beatles Tribute)
Let’s not forget the Summer Concert series at Forest Park’s George Seuffert Sr. Bandshell. These free shows are on Thursdays at 7:30 pm.
July 11: Plaza Theatrical gives a fresh take on Rodgers & Hammerstein classics from such musicals as Oklahoma, The Sound of Music, and South Pacific.
July 18: Desert Highway does covers by The Eagles
July 25: Parrot Beach pays tribute to Jimmy Buffett
Aug. 1: Rick Larrimore’s Blondes Have More Fun plays songs by Rod Stewart
Aug. 8: 70’s Disco Party gets the crowd boogying
Aug. 15 at 7 pm: Queensboro Dance Festival presents diverse styles of dance, including Jazz, Indian, Modern, and Hip-Hop
Last but not least, the Northwest Bayside Civic Association’s Free Concert Series is scheduled for every other Saturday at Bayside Fields at 29th Avenue between 203rd Place and the Clearview Expressway Service Road. Here’s the lineup.
