Woodside Summer Concert Series @ Seargent Collins Triangle

Woodside Summer Concert Series @ Seargent Collins Triangle
Enjoy an evening of classic modern jazz as you listen to The Chuck Braman Quintet, which performs the mostly forgotten music written by trumpeter Kenny Dorham for the quintet he co-led with saxophonist Joe Henderson in the mid-1960s. These compositions, while within the hard bop genre, are not exactly of it. They are different—dark, soulful, sophisticated, highly arranged, and with ingenious motifs and rhythmic devices that make each one of them a distinctive roadmap for improvisation. Dorham’s neglected masterpieces form the core of the group’s repertoire and concept, complemented by additional compositions by Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley, Walter Bishop Jr., Billy Harper, and others.
The Chuck Braman Quintet will be in Woodside as part of the Woodside Summer Concert Series. All are welcome to join! The event is free.

Kew Gardens Hand-Crafted Gift Fair @ Austin's Ale House | New York | United States

Art puts the heart in your gift giving! Pottery, jewelry, art, ornaments, silk screened clothing, photography, candles, cards, gift boxes and more…

A few years ago a local hand-crafted holiday fair at the Trackside Cafe at Austin’s Ale House in Kew Gardens created a home spun market for local artists to sell their creations to shoppers. The close-knit community responded positively to the event. After a brief hiatus, the craft fair is back again spearheaded by Queens artist, Germane Tautz.
