Do you want to learn how to make an Ecuadorian Straw Hat?
Here’s your chance! Three Ecuadorian artisans will share their ancestral knowledge and get you started at making your own hat.
The weaving technique used to create the iconic straw hat (erroneously) known as the Panama Hat is one of Ecuador’s greatest cultural treasures. This type of hat was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2012.
On Sunday, June 3, you’ll have the opportunity to learn the basics of this technique and immediately put it to use in an intimate, interactive workshop with toquilla straw brought directly from Cuenca, Ecuador.
All materials will be provided. Space is limited so reservations are required. If you book your ticket and you are not sure if you can attend the workshop, please let us know!
Paying for this event is not required, but all donations will be used to create more programs.
