Harvest Weekends begin October 3rd through October 25th showcasing fall on the farm. Queens Farm gate admission is free so that visitors can enjoy wandering the grounds to see the fall foliage and scoop up their pumpkins from the farm’s Pumpkin Patch. The farm also features hayrides, its seasonal farmstand with a variety of Hudson Valley apples, donuts, fresh cider and apple pies for a taste of New York! The farm store sells seasonal mums, locally-made jams and honey. Activities are priced separately. All proceeds support the care and operations of the historic farm. Harvest Weekends run Saturday and Sunday, October 3 through October 25 and Monday, October 12, 2020 from 11:00 am – 4:30 pm. Details & Covid visitor guidelines at queensfarm.org.

2020 marks the 375th anniversary of Flushing! At the time of its founding by the Dutch, it was known as Vlissingen, however, it received its modern moniker in 1683 after the English took over New Amsterdam. We will be exploring some of that long heritage of Flushing across our six sites in our Holly Tour program.
Holly Tour is a tradition of an afternoon of arts and crafts, musical performances, and historic tours. This year’s Annual Holly Tour is virtual – and better than ever. Explore historic Flushing from the warmth & comfort of your own home! Each site is putting on a show of their own, and each show has something fun and unique!
The 2020 virtual program will feature a bonanza of local culture and history, and we hope that you will join us. This event will be broadcast live, and each site will present their unique live content & answer any questions you might have.
Join via Youtube Live! You will not need an account to watch, but if you want to chat with us, you will need one. Links will be distributed the morning of the event. We will also provide translated transcripts for the pre-recorded content of this program in Spanish, Mandarin, and Korean language. Make yourself some hot chocolate and simply click the link to watch.
While the holiday season is normally a time for family and friends to gather, the COVID-19 pandemic has left many socially isolated, depressed, and anxious. Join Commonpoint Queens to help provide Chanukah care packages to 200 Older Adult Services program participants. By delivering Chanukah care packages, Commonpoint Queens will remind its senior community that while we may need to be physically apart this holiday season, we can still be together.
We are looking for volunteers to prepare packages on Sunday, December 6, and/or deliver packages Sunday, December 6, Monday, December 7, or Tuesday, December 8. On Thursday, December 10, the first night of Chanukah, participants will have the opportunity to light the Menorah together and enjoy some holiday-themed activities over Zoom.
To sign up for packing and/or delivery volunteer slot, visit https://www.commonpointqueens.org/volunteer/volunteer-opportunities/. For more information, please contact Isaac Adlerstein at firstname.lastname@example.org.
