Tell Every Amazing Lady® is holding its 12th Annual Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run 100% virtually on Saturday, September 12th, 2020, at 10:00am.
September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. The annual event is held every September to celebrate the courage of ovarian cancer survivors and the strength of the families who have been touched by the disease, while spreading awareness to the public and raising money for research. Due to the ongoing situation caused by COVID-19, the Brooklyn T.E.A.L.® Walk/Run will be 100% virtual this year. Participants can register as virtual walkers or runners, and can join us from anywhere.

The cost to register is $20 to $40, depending on package choice.

Amenities:
– Registration options include swag like bib, digital goodie bag, t-shirt, medal, or buff.
– Registered participants will receive a special link to watch online that day.

On Saturday, October 3rd, LIC Partnership hosts its 7th Annual LIC Springs! community block festival on Vernon Boulevard between 50th and 46th Ave.

Celebrate Long Island City and enjoy live music, dance and theater performances plus interactive lessons, art & sculpture-making, fitness classes, outdoor dining, pop-up activities, sports games and more. Free and open to all ages. LIC Springs! is thankful to Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer for his support and is a proud partner of DOT Weekend Walks.

Bayside Historical Society’s Annual Totten Trot 5K is a Virtual 5K Run/Walk this year! You can run or walk whenever and wherever you like! Plus, we’re keeping our traditional Halloween theme: Run or walk in costume as an individual or group with a theme. There will be prizes for BEST 3 COSTUMES and BEST GROUP THEME!

To participate in our Virtual 5K Run/Walk, choose your distance, use a timer or GPS app, take your run, and then upload your times online beginning October 25 on the Elitefeats website. You’ll also be able to upload up to five photos! The last day to register and post times is November 1. Registration fee is $25.00. All participants get a free Bayside Historical Society Buff!

Jewish National Fund-USA (JNF-USA) is celebrating its inaugural return to in-person events on August 9 with its 13th Annual Long Island Golf and Tennis Classic honoring Amy and Josh Goldman for their outstanding philanthropic contributions to the tri-state region. JNF-USA’s signature event for Long Island residents will take place at the historic Fresh Meadow Country Club, where baseball legend Babe Ruth was famously photographed in 1941. The exquisite country club contains amenities that include an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, a grand entry hall, and a pool that will be exclusively reserved for JNF-USA event participants to cool down after golfing. In addition to the simultaneous golf and tennis tournaments and pool availability, participants will be well-fed with catered meals, including brunch, a barbecue lunch on the course, and a fancy dinner featuring elaborate hors d’oeuvres. Cocktails will also be available throughout the day. Multiple ticket options and sponsorship opportunities are available. The Hunters Point Parks Conservancy is proud to partner with the Woodside-Sunnyside Runners and Run LIC to put on the annual LIC Waterfront 5K, to be held this year on Saturday, September 18.

This event takes runners and walkers through the streets and waterfront parks of Long Island City and is an extremely popular family-friendly event that drawers casual and competitive runners alike. After the conclusion of the 5K, the festivities also include the Shibley Day Camp Center Boulevard Children’s Dashes for kids 2-9.

Previous races have been attended by over 1,300 runners and walkers. All proceeds from the event go to HPPC and are put back into our parks or used for our free community events!
