This virtual exhibit melds science and art to create extraordinary images of brains – from high-resolution images of real brains from different species to artistic portraits crafted out of brain cells. Viewers can look at high-resolution images of octopi, zebra finches, mice, turtle, and human brains, as well as original artwork inspired by brains.

Fairy Tales In Motion
(For Kids & Teens ages 8 to 14 years of age)

This unique program uses dance & choreography to retell popular fairy tales. Participants create live adaptations of classic stories using their imagination, innovation and interactive choreography. In this workshop, our “narrators” tell a story without using words. Classic tales get a modern makeover with the use of today’s music and dance moves. Recorded video segments from each session will be utilized for a culminating theatrical performance. The event will premiere on QPAC Live! a streaming entertainment broadcast on Facebook and YouTube, for family and friends to see from across the globe. Distinguished arts professionals collaborate to provide the opportunity for a multidisciplinary experience.

Mondays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. EDT
July 13 – August 24, 2020 (1x a week for 7 weeks)

Fee: $175 per child

Must have computer video/sound access. Must have video recording device (phone is fine) & the ability to upload.

Chihuahua shares an extensive border with the U.S. adjacent to the U.S. states of New Mexico and Texas. As the largest state of Mexico, it is located in Northwestern Mexico and is bordered by the states of Sonora to the west, Sinaloa to the southwest, Durango to the south, and Coahuila to the east. This dance series will introduce you to the Mexican Polka, a traditional dance with joyful music from Chihuahua and a full body workout!.

The Fine Art of Songwriting with Steve Leslie
(For Adults 24+)

How many times have you heard the phrase “tell me a story?” Songwriting is storytelling: its about what to say. It’s about telling the truth, and giving people a “voice”. In this workshop, we’ll explore the process of songwriting – the art, the craft, and the delicate balance between the two. Grammy-Award winning Steve Leslie will work closely with all levels of writers to explore the poetry, rhythms, and melodies that share your message in an original way. Writers of all skill levels will benefit from Steve’s experience of 25 years as a professional songwriter.

Everyone has a story to tell. Participants will have an open invitation to perform their original song on a future QPAC Live! broadcast.

Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT

For the first time, magic enthusiasts from all over the world can learn “sleight of hand” techniques taught by international TV illusionist REZA! Using ordinary household items, this special program focuses on easy optical illusion magic for beginners, executed with the precision and flair of an expert. Part workshop, part competition, this seven-week step-by-step “how to fool family and friends,” culminates with a Facebook contest showcasing the top five contestants as selected by REZA. The finalists will have one week (week 6) to score as many “likes” as they can, and the winner will be featured with REZA on QPAC Live! a live streaming entertainment broadcast on Facebook and YouTube for all to see. A multi-faceted, once in a lifetime opportunity for the naturally born entertainer!

“Skimming The Surface”, Expressive Movement workshops led by Dance Entropy’s Artistic Director Valerie Green, hope to bring peace and calm in this time of chaos, where everything seems to be out of our control. The virtual workshop will provide a space of safety, to tune into our emotions while releasing and processing feelings through movement. The class provides a supported space for community in this time of required social distancing and turmoil.
