Becoming Biodiversity @ Pat Dolan Trail (Mauro Playground entrance)
Jun 2 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
Becoming Biodiversity @ Pat Dolan Trail (Mauro Playground entrance) | New York | United States

Amy Youngs’ work harnesses technology as a medium to connect humans empathetically with the biodiversity, symbioses, and unseen worlds in our natural environment. Her latest project, Becoming Biodiversity, is a guided app tour of the Pat Dolan Trail. It consists of mixed-reality animations and narration that invite the viewer to re-enact stories from the perspectives of non-humans, such as a plant calling out to a bird to help with pest control, an underground fungal network delivering goods to struggling trees, and a cormorant searching for a meal in a man-made lake.
We will start off the event with the Becoming Biodiversity tour, follow up with a Q&A with the artist, and conclude with a planting session. Please install the free Becoming Biodiversity app to participate in the tour, and bring headphones if possible. Register here, as space is limited: https://allianceforfmcp.org/b-b

The group of boys and girls, ages 5-12, is proud to bring to you an afternoon of traditional Ecuadorian music and dance.

Explore a variety of rhythms and celebrations representing the various provinces of this South American country. Enjoy live Andean music by the band Inti Andino as well as a special performance by Ñukanchik Llacta Wawakuna, an all-girls program which works to preserve Ecuador’s cultural identity. In addition to music and dance, there will be a small exhibit of ceramic art pieces created by the parents of the Ñukanchik Sapi students. The parents have been taking arts and crafts workshops while their children attend their weekly dance practice. Come check them out!
