This virtual summer camp will highlight the interesting ways that science makes things go boom from chemical interactions to sound vibrations. Participants will observe a colorful foamy reaction called elephant toothpaste and learn safe ways to conduct a similar effect at home. They’ll also investigate how air pressure can move objects and create an impact with homemade air blasters. And they’ll explore sound by making their own instruments and designing homemade boom boxes.
$150 per child. Camp will include live science demonstrations, interactive activities, social games that foster group collaboration, and physical movement activities to minimize effects of screen time. Prior to the start of the camp, registered participants will receive a materials list of easy-to-gather materials such as paper, crayons, etc. Limited capacity; only a small number of participants will be registered to ensure a more personalized experience for campers. Advance registration required. Register online at https://nysci.org/home/programs/innovation-camps/
