Victorian era homes with gardens can be found to this day in Richmond Hill, in Flushing, and pocket neighborhoods throughout our region. Over the years, Irene Buszko has painted her family neighborhood in the plein-air tradition. She sets up her easel on site to paint each of the Victorian homes lovingly tended by families today.
As guest curator Janet Schneider notes,” There is a uniqueness here—a kind of quirky individualism that can be found in many of the older communities of Queens.”
We host an opening reception on April 7th. And, you can join us for a slide talk to learn more about Irene Buszko’s painting process and the art on view on Sunday, April 28th at 2pm.
