Museum visitors can engage in a week of engineering activities and challenges, including:
The Circus Lab
February 15 – 23, 2020; noon – 3:30 pm (15-minute audition performed every half hour)
The Circus Lab auditions a 17-year-old robot arm for a chance to perform with their troupe.

Civil Engineering Day
February 17, 2020; 11 am – 4 pm
Museum visitors learn about civil engineering through interactive games, construction challenges and hands-on activities. Presented by the Metropolitan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, activities include building a dome using gumdrops and toothpicks, designing a boat out of aluminum foil and seeing how many pennies it can hold without sinking, building a paper tower that can withstand a weight placed on top, and more.

Build with Rigamajigs
February 15 – 23, 2020; noon – 4 pm
Visitors collaborate, design and build large simple machine structures with Rigamajigs, a large scale building kit consisting of wooden planks, wheels, pulleys, nuts, bolts and rope in the museum’s Design Lab area.

Cardboard City
February 15 – 23, 2020; noon – 4 pm
Visitors design and build an entire micro-city out of cardboard.

Design Time Demonstration
February 15 – 23, 2020; 1 pm
Museum visitors repurpose household items to build an imaginative mechanism to meet a challenge.

Build With Dowels
February 15 – 16 & February 18 – 23, 2020; noon – 4 pm
Visitors design and build sculptures and structures using dowels, rubber bands and embellishments.
