Ecuadorian Spring Recital: Ñukanchik Sapi @ Queens Museum

An afternoon of live music, dance and culture. Translated to English from Kichwa as Our Roots, Ñukanchik Sapi is the children’s dance program of the Ecuadorian American Cultural Center. The group of boys and girls, ages 5-12, is proud to bring to you an afternoon of traditional Ecuadorian music and dance.

Explore a variety of rhythms and celebrations representing the various provinces of this South American country. Enjoy live Andean music by the band Inti Andino as well as a special performance by Ñukanchik Llacta Wawakuna, an all-girls program which works to preserve Ecuador’s cultural identity. In addition to music and dance, there will be a small exhibit of ceramic art pieces created by the parents of the Ñukanchik Sapi students. The parents have been taking arts and crafts workshops while their children attend their weekly dance practice. Come check them out!

The event is free and open to everyone.

The Ecuadorian-American Cultural Center’s mission is to promote Ecuadorian culture through the arts and education.
