InTheLoop | The Astoria Park Carnival Runs from June 4 to June 8

Zeus and Flash Dance are making their debut. Sea Dragon and Dream Catcher are back by popular demand.

The Astoria Park Carnival returns to its familiar spot under the RFK Bridge from Wednesday, June 4, to Sunday, June 8.

Presented by Dreamland Amusements (as always), this annual tradition features outdoor fun with scary, kiddie, and thrilling rides. Funnel cake, live music, and Shootout City are also on tap.

A single ride is $1.50, but 20 tickets cost $32 while a 50-ticket package goes for $62. Operating hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 4 pm to 10 pm; Friday, 4 pm to 11 pm, Saturday, noon to 11:59 pm; and Sunday, noon to 11 pm.

As mentioned, Zeus (above), a thunder-inspired ride that spins sideways with the power of a lightning bolt, and Flash Dance (below), whose cars spin independently while rotating and orbitting around a central axis, are new this year.

They join a returning fleet that might include the following.

Alien Invasion: A spin through the galaxy in an alien ship.
Delusion: A towering machine that turns patrons upside down.
Dream Catcher: Twists and turns among patriotic decorations.
Dream Wheel: Seven-stories-high with breathtaking views.
Flying Bobs: Circles at high speeds.
Mulligan Patriot Ride: A huge wheel with a red-white-and-blue theme. Each gondola seats four comfortably.
Music Express: Passengers spin around amid light, smoke, and music.
Pharaoh’s Fury: A swinging boat.
Rock Star: An Ali Baba Spectacular with theater seating.
Sea Dragon: A pendulum swings to the sky.
Sky Hawk: Soar about 75 feat above ground.
Starship 3000: A straight shot to the Milky Way.
Superman 360: A complete circle.
Super Cyclone Roller Coaster: Eight riders experience loops and slopes together.
Super Himalaya: One of the fastest rides in the United States.
The Wheel: 110 feet tall with 24 gondola six-person cars.
Zipper: Cars spin in a high circle with illumination from LED lights.

The Astoria Park Carnival will take place in the vicinity of Hoyt Avenue North and 19th Street.
