Three buddies. One tall box. Countless possibilities…and a fascinating new Queens performance space.
3AM Theatre hosts the world premiere of I’ll Take It three times in Long Island City from Thursday, May 22, to Saturday, May 24.
Multi-disciplinary company Parallel Exit presents this one-hour circus experience during which three performers display tricks, athleticism, and acting chops in a world where every door leads to another and some vanish as soon as they close. Get a better idea with this video clip.
Ticket prices run from $15 to $30. The showtimes are May 22 at 8 pm, May 23 at 8 pm, and May 24 at 8 pm.
The intrepid, trusting friends – Kyle Driggs, Ryan Shinji, and Saffi Watson – turn a box into a maze through acrobatics and illusion. They close doors and time folds. They open doors, and reality blurs. They jump on top of the door, and gravity bends. They run around the box, and the audience sees visions of a clown car.
After a while, it appears that the box is performing with the humans…and maybe even stealing the show a bit.
I’ll Take It was created and conceived by Joel Jeske. The director is Mark Lonergan, while Driggs, who also acts, handles the lighting design.
Located in Unit 3N at 9-20 35th Ave., 3AM Theatre is a collaborative performing arts and rehearsal space in a former factory. The venue mixes contemporary circus, modern dance, and physical theater with sculpture and lighting design to create original works in a unique setting.
