It’s a multicultural celebration, and the audience is SUPPOSED to sing and dance with the group.
Queens Theatre will present Dan & Claudia with Pauline Jean: The Holiday Sing Along! on Sunday, Nov. 25, at 1 pm and again on 3 pm.
In other words, Dan Zanes, who has won multiple Grammy Awards, will play winter celebration tunes with two Haitian-American vocalists, Claudia Eliaza and Pauline Jean. The atmosphere will be casual, while the music, based on folk traditions from around the world, will be festive. Oh so festive.
He’s always been playing music, but Zanes got his commercial start with The Del Fuegos, a garage-style rock band, in the 1980s. But the New Hampshire native found tremendous success playing children-and-family music with his band, Dan Zanes and Friends, in the early 21st century.
Eliaza has a rich, captivating voice and a strong faith in the power of music. In addition to performing, she’s a board certified music therapist.
Jean is a contralto with a jazzy base and the ability to sing jump from English to Haitian Creole mid stanza.
Each show will last about 60 minutes. The second one will have ASL Interpretation and it will be a “Sensory Relaxed Performance” with minimal light and low sound to soften the audience’s sensory experience.
Tickets are $14, but seniors pay $12. Queens Theatre is at 14 United Nations Ave. S. in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
