#PickoftheWeek | Flamenco lights up Thalia Spanish Theatre
This show is on fire!
Danza España presents Fuego Flamenco at Thalia Spanish Theatre in Sunnyside from Friday, March 17, through Sunday, April 2.
Featuring two special guests directly from Spain — dancer Adrian Galia and singer Curro Cueto — this 38-year-old troupe captures the rich passion of this sensual, rhythmic art form. Attendees can expect to experience a deep repertoire of acts combining all aspects — song, music, dance, hand claps, finger snaps, toe taps, percussion, guitar — of this traditional Andalusian genre.
Yloy Ybarra, the artistic and executive director, is a fixture on the NYC Flamenco scene and at Thalia Spanish Theatre, where he produces annual shows. He has a extensive background in Ballet and Modern Dance and has worked for more than 25 years in public schools.
Performances are on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and on Sundays at 4 pm for the entire run. Tickets are $40 a piece, but only $37 for students and seniors.
