#NewsFlash | Savor Bangladeshi, Burmese, and Indian cuisine with the Queens Dinner Club on Wednesday
BY QEDC It's In Queens
How about fantastic Bangladeshi, Burmese, and Indian food on the same night and in the same place?
The Queens Dinner Club will host a special Bay of Bengal feast at the Bamboo Lounge, which is part of the Astor Room restaurant in Astoria’s Kaufman Arts District on Wednesday Sept. 27, at 7 pm.
Chef Myo Lin Thway, who runs the popular Queens International Night Market stand Burmese Bites, will serve chicken keema palata, gossamer thin flatbread filled with spicy ground poultry. He’ll also ladle out ohno kaukswe, a coconut chicken noodle soup tinged with fiery red curry.
Popular Jackson Heights eatery Kababish will do India proud with katakat, a goat offal hash singing with the flavor of onions, garlic and ginger. (The dish gets its name from the sound of spatulas chopping it on the griddle.) The chef will also offer chicken kofta in curry sauce, chicken kababs, naan, and garlic naan. Plus, Merit Kabab Palace, another Jackson Heights foodie destination which recently reopened after a fire, will provide vegetable samosas and poori.
Family-owned Bangladeshi eatery Boishakhi, located in Astoria, will go with saag chingri (shrimp and spinach), bindi masala (spicy okra), and vegetable biryani.
Peter Zaharatos of Sugarcube will create bespoke desserts, while the Astor Room will shake up a South Asia-inspired cocktail.
Now in its second year, the Queens Dinner Club organizes monthly feasts featuring cuisines from different borough restaurants. All are invited.
