It’s in Queens
#NewsFlash | Fast-rising Indian star to perform in Queens
The hottest singer in India right now is actually from Queens…and he’s about to offer a homecoming concert.
Ben Parag will perform at the York College Performing Arts Center in Jamaica on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 5:30 pm. Tickets run from $20 to $100.
Parag, who was born in Richmond Hill to Guyanese immigrant parents, recently became a household name in India after starring on the TV talent show Dil Hai Hindustani, which is similar to American Idol as contestants audition in front of judges with the hope of signing recording contracts.
His crooning impressed the judges – and the rest of the country – especially his melodic, romantic voice and dramatic stage presence. The Hillside Arts and Letters Academy graduate didn’t win the final prize, but he did so well that he now plans to forge a career singing in Bollywood movies.
Parag’s great grandparents left India for Guyana, which is located in South America, in the late 19th century. His family has maintained strong religious and cultural ties to the Asia Subcontinent ever since. Parag is a practicing Hindu who he has been studying Hindi.
A co-contestant on Dil Hai Hindustani, Fakhrul Razi, will also perform during this concert. For ticket information, contact Dave Thakoordeen at 347.291.3807 or Shivani Persaud 929.327.2691 or click here.
