It’s in Queens
#KidsCorner | Have fun while learning about nature

It’s a one-stop shop for educational children’s activities.
The Alley Pond Environmental Center will host five upcoming events that offer hands-on opportunities to learn about nature.
The Make a Splash program will investigate water and its properties through experimentation and study on Saturday, July 15, at 12:30 pm. Youngsters will get wet with some water games, meet aquatic animals, and explore the Douglaston venue’s ecosystem.
There’s also an event for fledgling toddlers (ages 18 months to three years) called “Time: Slimy, Slippery Snails” on the same day, but at 10:30 am. Wee ones will meet live animals, walk a trail, do arts, and listen to stories around a theme.
Kidz Kitchen: Nests for Nibbling will begin on Saturday, July 22, at 11 am. Budding chefs (ages 6-7) will study an animal and then make a snack to commemorate what they just learned.
Two sessions of At the Seashore are set for Saturday, July 29. Youngsters (ages 3-4) will explore marine life and other sea treasures at 10:30 am. They’ll walk in a salt marsh, watch aquatic animals, and create a gift to take home. Older children (ages 5-7) will get their chance at 1:30 pm.
Think Tank – 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 – Blast Off! will also take place on July 29, but at 1:30 pm. Participants (ages 7-9) will watch things bubble, pop, move, fizz, change, spread, grow, and twist. They will do experiments and draw conclusions.
