LIC Art Stroll: Materials for the Arts and Flux Factory
Materials for the Arts, 33-00 Northern Blvd., Long Island City, NY 11101
The Art Stroll series, presented by Long Island City Cultural Alliance, provides a unique opportunity to experience LICCA institutions that are walking distance from each other. This week’s program begins at Materials for the Arts with a tour of the impressive warehouse full of unique and inspiring reusable art materials made available for free to New Yorkers through the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
You will then then walk to Flux Factory, where curators Christina Freeman and Emireth Herrera Valdes will give a tour of the current exhibition Tongue Tide. Inspired by our home borough — the most language-dense area in the world– Tongue Tide explores the multitude of ways in which artists engage with language. Finally, you will stroll over to the Windmill Community Garden for snacks and drinks.
